    this ruined my face

I have always had a problem with acne, but it had cleared up for awhile. Thinking that I could use “normal people” skin care products, I bought this based on the rave reviews, looking to just boost a healthy glow, exfoliate, etc. I started breaking out immediately, which I had heard might happen but would go away. It didn’t go away. I discontinued use after 1-2 weeks, and my skin has continued to break out to such an extent that I think I have to go back to the dermatologist for the first time in 10 years. My face hasn’t been this bad since I was in high school (I am in my late 20s now). It’s impossible to say if it is directly a result of this product, but all I know is that my skin flared up immediately after my use of the clarisonic brush. I would steer clear if you have ever had problems with acne, even if you are currently not breaking out.

Love it so far – think I’m hooked
    Rating:5 out of 5 stars
The review by “M. Guillermo ‘Beach book worm’” covers a lot of details, and I agree with a lot of that review.

My experience so far – I’ve had the Clarisonic Pro brush for a little over a week. I will update this review as I have more to report.

    – I have been using the brush twice a day. My skin feels smoother, tighter (in a good way), softer, and more clean. It seems to “take” moisturizer better when I put it on.

    - I have noticed that some fine lines seemed a little more noticeable within the past couple of days, but I started using Jojoba oil on my face after cleaning and that seems to be doing the trick. (Cleaning twice a day is twice as much cleaning as usual for me and my skin tends to dry out, so this doesn’t seem to be cause for alarm – just keeping an eye on it.)

    - I am going to push through because, overall, I do already feel that my skin is healthier. My face feels more “fresh”, it feels better to the touch, it looks healthier – more pink (not because of irritation). I feel that it is improving the circulation (I have not read any hard facts on that, just saying what it feels like). There is nothing like sonic vibrations – they get far below the surface. It is a mini massage and I actually enjoy the process. If the fine lines don’t seem to get steadily worse with use of the Clarisonic, I will continue to use it.

    - So far I am very happy with this purchase. It is a relatively big ticket item, but I’ve learned over the years that buying cheap alternatives doesn’t always work out. I sometimes end up with loads of similar items I don’t use, having spent almost as much/more than the price of the single item I really wanted (not to mention all the wasted time/effort).

    - The brush came with the Sensitive brush head and I wouldn’t go with a “tougher” brush, personally. I have read that many people find that their sensitivity goes down over time. This may be the case and would make sense, as I’ve found that using sonic toothbrushes makes my gums much less sensitive. I will see how my skin feels over time and decide if I want to purchase a Delicate or Normal brush head next.

    —————————

Some of the factors I weighed before making the purchase, just FYI:

    - I’ve not been one to take up or maintain a skin care routine. If it takes longer than soaking a couple of cotton balls in Witch Hazel and wiping my face I haven’t had time for it. Only in the last few years have I occasionally added Oil of Olay to my limited routine. Even more recently, in response to the appearance of new lines, I started using alpha hydroxy products at night and an exfoliant scrub with salicylic acid. I DEFINITELY noticed an improvement in my skin (loved it) but was conflicted, due to the known (and unknown) toxicity of many of the ingredients. I wanted to find an alternative to using these products long term.

    - Just a month ago I talked with a woman I know who said she uses the Clarisonic religiously and has for about a year. She said it has worked wonders for her skin. She is a no-fuss, no-nonsense kind of person who is not generally concerned with beauty products and has never spent so much on something for her face. Hearing her rave about a product is rare, and so I found myself considering this very expensive product.

    - I looked around online for reviews and information. I looked at the Clarisonic site for info (taking their claims and gushing videos with a grain of salt), at reviews here and on beauty and dermatology/medical sites/blogs, etc. Overwhelmingly, what I found was positive (even if I assume that some of the reviews may have been “plants” or that some reviewers received Clarisonic freebies and so were biased). There were some reviewers who said they didn’t see results, there were some who gave up early on because they started to break out. Given that other information made it clear that there could be a phase of increased breakout, I was willing to take that risk. Not all things that are worth doing will give the desired results instantaneously. I am interested in a long term solution, so I am willing to go through bumpy periods, and I had a feeling that I would see at least some good results.

    - I use sonic toothbrushes and love them. My gums are MUCH healthier from the use of them, and so I am sold on sonic technology.

    - When I first heard of the sonic face brush I could imagine what it would feel like on the skin and the benefits made sense to me. I also could understand the difference between using a sonic brush and using a scrub or manual face brush. This point seems to be one of confusion: you are not scrubbing your face with the Clarisonic in order to aggressively abrate the top layer. Abrating can irritate and damage the skin, sometimes even making breakouts and wrinkles more likely. And any good effects from abrating can only get so far down into the skin. The Clarisonic brush is relatively soft and you use very light pressure. The bristles transmit the sonic vibration into your skin. Sonic vibrations can get much farther down through the skin to stimulate and loosen, without having to manhandle the top layer in order to do so.

    - I’ve read many statements about how use of the Clarisonic can make other skin products more effective, so that less needs to be used. This was a big selling point for me, given how much moisturizing I need to do (especially in the winter) and my increasing concerns about the long term safety of many ingredients in skin care/beauty products. I am going to replace the Clarisonic liquid cleansers with others. I will start trying out different products based on the info I find on sites such as the “Skin Deep: Cosmetic Safety Database” (you can search by company name, brand name, product or ingredient).

My wife has been after me to get her a Clarisonc for a while, so for her birthday I ordered one and had it delivered to the house. She loves this thing and uses it at least twice a day. You know the old saying when the wife is happy we are both happy

People always have been compliment about my skin being smooth and nice. I always credited to the fact that l hardly put any make up on my skin except toners and moiterizers throughout my life. I ran into this item by chance and ordered by curiosity. Well,I have not seen or felt any improvements on my skin. And it takes extra time and hassle daily! Good cleanser and my hand do the just as same job. I think this item is overated and is for people who put make up on daily basis.

Love it! My pores are smaller, face is cleaner, fine lines are softer.

I can also tell my skin absorbs my skin products better!

    I recommend this item!

Turns out all that has been said about the product is pretty much true. I wasn’t convinced a cleansing system should cost so much but the girl friend’s elatedand that more than makes up for it. She says it works great and she’s been secretly wanting it for a long time (wasn’t a great secret considering the information was leaked to me). The product works as described and seems to do a pretty good job of making sure the skin looks and feels fresh.

Guys, get this thing. It will make her happy.

Packaged and Shipped by Fab Products
    Rating:4 out of 5 stars
I received my order today. My Clarisonic Pro “Deluxe” 4 Speed Skin Care System & Spot Therapy Kit was packaged and shipped by Fab Products. The unit looks completely brand new and packaging was perfect. I am somewhat confused by the word “Deluxe” being used on many of the adds on Amazon and such. I do not see the word “Deluxe” anywhere. I will also point out I have read reviews where buyers want to know where the Spot Therapy Kit is, well it is the extra brush and refining skin polish, which does not come with the base kit.

I’ll give it a try over the next week and review more. Thanks.

Only had it for a week, but so far, so good.
    Rating:3 out of 5 stars
So far, I like my Clarisonic Pro. I’ve only had it for a week,. Although it’s still a bit of a wait-n-see deal with me, I have cautious optimism. I’ve always had highly-sensitive skin. Now, as an adult, I’m dealing with eczema and adult acne. Dermatologist haven’t been able to do much for my skin, even after spending money on medicinal creams.

The beauty counter has usually been a bust for me. I’ve used highly-advertised products like Neutrogena’s facial brush (with the disposable soap pads). After less than a week, my skin broke out terribly, and skin reddened after every use. Plus my face didn’t necessarily feel clean after the Neutrogena brush, so I stopped using it.

I heard a lot of word-of-mouth on YouTube about the Clarisonic. I wanted to try it, when I found out how much it cost… I almost turned and ran. But, then I thought I’ve spent $100s on dermatologists, so it wouldn’t hurt (if it worked.) So far, I’m pleased with the results after less than a week.

When it starts, there’s a cute little “beep-beep-beep” to know it’s about to begin. The device alerts you when you have to change sections to start cleaning the next section. The Clarisonic is water-resistant so you can use it in the shower. The brushes feel light against the skin… I’ve been tempted to press hard for a massage (but I’ve read anecdotal advice that if you massage your face too hard, it breaks down the tissues and can cause premature aging.)

I’ve also been using the facial cleaners from the spot therapy kit that came with the book. The place where I bought it from (on Amazon) was nice enough to include a complimentary Skin Polisher (large size) with it. I’m planning to switch to all natural products soon, though, rich in Vitamin E.

So far, I’m pleased with the results. My face feels clean, and it’s the softest its been in ages. This is miraculous, for me. I wash my skin twice a day, and never get the squeaky-clean feeling I do, except when using a Clarisonic — even when following with the handy cotton ball wet with toners or astringents. The reddened eczema areas around my nose (which always look red and irritated) have also healed: this after less than a week’s worth of use.

When using, I make sure to wash my face first, then follow with the Clarisonic Brush. After use, I also take the time to clean my Clarisonic brush(and even my Phillip’s Sonic Pro Toothbrush) with a little soap and rinses it. I do this to kill any bacteria collecting in the brushes. I am going to change the brush head at the recommended time too (Hopes this tip helps those who have acne, like myself.)

I’ve only given it three stars so far, but if it continues to perform, my rating will raise. If there are any changes in my satisfaction with this product, I will add it.

Absolutely love it! Skin is much smother even after first use. Can not wait to use it again and again. Bye-bye scrubs and itchy acne products.

One of the best purchases for myself!

Not a panacea but works well
    Rating:4 out of 5 stars
I was staying with a friend who urged me to try her Clarisonic brush. Her skin looks fabulous for her age so I jumped at the chance. I’ve used all kinds of skin brushes and never really noticed any difference, but I liked how soft and smooth my skin felt immediately after using this brush. I am familiar with using ultrasonic vibrations to clean everything from teeth to jewelry to pharmaceutical equipment, so the concept of using it to clean your face is not too far fetched. Since Clarisonic offers a 60-day guarantee, I decided to give it a try.

I have oily, thick skin with large pores and even though I’m in my late 30′s, I have regular break-outs. I am also prone to hyperpigmentation. I have now been using this brush for a little over 30 days, twice a day. I can’t say my pores are smaller or that I have fewer fine lines. But I definitely have had fewer major flare ups and my skin is finally healing and pigment spots are fading. I do get the impression that my skincare products are more effective. To that point, this brush is intended to be a SUPPLEMENT to a good skincare regime, not a REPLACEMENT for. The effect on my skin wasn’t overnight or even in a week. It took time, patience and persistence. Although I haven’t seen the huge improvements some people claim, I’m happy enough with the results that I’ve decided to keep the brush and make it a permanent part of my skincare program.

    Pros:

    1. The timer is a handy feature that ensures that you don’t concentrate too long or too little on one area. I also use the timer for “spot” treatments on areas when I feel a blemish coming on.

2, It’s waterproof. This means you can use it in the shower or in the bath.

    3. The sample cleanser are nice, but any cleanser appropriate for your skin will do.

    4. The model I purchased has variable speed settings. This is great for adjusting to your skincare needs. I started with a lower setting and increased it gradually when I realized my skin could handle it.

    Cons:

    1. Large and heavy. It does not travel well, especially if you need to also bring the charger. With a full charge, I got about 8 days of twice a day use. If I also used the body brush once a day for 3 minutes, I got about 3-4 days of use.

    2. Expensive. However, I’m hoping that with regular use I will no longer need expensive salon treatments like microdermabrasion. Replacement brushes are expensive too.

    3. The flat face brush and the flat body brush don’t work that well around tight contours of your body such as around the nose or collar.

    4. The brush is supposed to last 3-4 months. The face brush lost a hair after 1 week and after a month, it’s already starting to look a little grungy.

UPDATE: After 4 months my brush started making a rattling noise and could not tell the difference between the body and face brush anymore. Shortly after that I started breaking out again. I called Clarisonic and without any hassle they immediately sent me a new one. Now that I know it really makes a difference I can’t live without it. I also appreciated the fast, friendly service.

It is not worth the amount i paid for it , any ordinary manual facial brush can do the same.

I love the body brush. My skin is smoother. Haven’t had time to see a difference on the cellulite yet but am told it works great.

As for the facial brush, my skin is definitely smoother. I can’t say I notice a reduction in the size of the pores or less wrinkles yet, but I’ve only been using for about 3 weeks.

    Overall, I’m pleased.

Used for 6 weeks saw no difference in my skin-did see a few more light wrinkles. I already have wrinkles and do not need any more. Felt good while using, that is the one star!

    Really nice product
    Rating:5 out of 5 stars
I just got this in the mail today – it came in 2 days and I have to say, I’m very pleased! I was surprised at how nice and comfortable it feels on the face. The scrubbing is not abrasive at all – its very therapeutic and relaxing. It gently vibrates and massages the face while giving it a very thorough cleaning. My face felt great afterwards and it seems to do an excellent job. I would have liked to got the one with the various brushes, just to try them – so that would be my only suggestion is to take a look at the options that come with 3 brushes.
